Examining soil in a field

Soil Saturday Walks

A tour of the “invisible farm” through sensory exploration, biodynamic practices, and participatory art/science. We visit with seasons, soil, plants, animals, and other - sometimes hidden - elements that make up a farm’s life.

Why people participate and what they take home:

To get in touch with the earth.

I feel warm and connected. I really connected to my child self and sense of wonder. This experience brings back memories of camp in the best way and the curiosity of learning something new.

To get to know the farm, soil, people, and the area. I loved the pace and the people and the topic. I feel calm and connected afterward.

Giving a space to look at deep, difficult issues. not shying away from the discomfort. Really giving a space to wrestle, not just preach.

I was interested in opening my views of soil and earth and fertility. The magic of soil opened up.
— - September 2019 walk participant
I was moved by the space that was created and held.
— 2019 Soil Saturday participant
I wanted to learn more, hands on, about soil processes and life. Seeing the dug out shirt remains, placed next to each other; all different, all telling us a slightly different story, yet with the same message...This walk gave me hope for the future, and that alone is huge!
